In July 2011, ownership of the Sudan Mine Action Programme was passed to the National Mine Action Centre. Much attention was given to developing managerial and technical capacities within the National Demining Units by training team leaders, supervisory staff and EOD operators.
As part of this ongoing commitment, TDI was asked to conduct a Team Leader Course and an EOD Level 2 Course for 20 staff from the NDU’s and national NGO’s.
The Team Leaders Course was successfully completed by all 16 students who are now qualified to lead Manual Clearance, Technical Survey, BAC and EOD Teams. The EOD Level Two course also ran smoothly and all students received their EOD Level 2 Certificates.
The success of the courses was due to the hard work, interest and enthusiasm of all students.
“I would like to express my appreciation to TDI for the successful implementation of the training project. Special thanks to Col. Andrew Roseveare for his dedication and hard work,” said Habibulhaq Javed, Senior Technical Advisor, United Nations Mine Action Service – Sudan, Khartoum.
