Stockpiled munitions outnumber those laid in the ground. Improved storage facilities and the destruction of unused weapons can limit these munitions finding their way into the hands of criminal groups or rebel forces, especially in those countries suffering from conflict or weak governance.
Over the years, TDI has developed significant knowledge in weapons and ammunition management and can assist with a broad range of Physical Security and Stockpile Management (PSSM) activities including storage, transportation, handling processes, operating procedures and disposal.
Through the destruction of small arms and light weapons (SALW), this ensures that they do not find their way back to illicit cartels or markets, which can greatly affect a country’s security. Destroying surplus and obsolete weapons is a cost-effective way to bring about stability and reconciliation in post-conflict areas.
