Meet our Medic, Fatou

Originally from Kisangani, Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Fatou has always been passionate about the humanitarian aspect of the Mine Action industry. Despite facing some cultural indifference due to being a woman, this only increased her desire to pursue her career further, utilising her skills to help others.

Fatou began working in the Mine Action industry in 2004 as a Field Medic during EOD operations in the DRC.  Along with her nursing qualification received from the Higher Institute of Medical Technology, she completed a C-IED training course in Somalia and her EOD Level 1 certification in the DRC.

Fatou is currently based in the Central African Republic (CAR), as a Medic for TDI.  She supervises all health and safety related matters within the TDI camp, as well as providing first aid to staff members.  In addition to this, her expertise is demonstrated during practical exercises as she provides medical training to military personnel.  She is also responsible for medical provision during any live training exercises that take place.
