En 2018, TDI a été chargé de mener une action de sensibilisation aux risques liés aux engins explosifs, et d’effectuer une enquête non technique auprès des communautés à risque dans sept territoires de quatre provinces de la République démocratique du Congo. TDI s’est associé à une organisation non gouvernementale locale pour mener à bien ce projet.
L’éducation aux risques posés par les engins explosifs ainsi que les armes légères et de petit calibre a permis de sensibiliser à la menace que représentent les restes explosifs de guerre, tout en faisant mieux comprendre le danger que représentent les armes à feu non contrôlées. Les tâches d’enquête non technique ont permis au SLAM de cibler des zones spécifiques de contamination afin de soutenir les efforts de l’aide humanitaire.
Plus de 54 600 personnes ont reçu une précieuse éducation aux risques. Pour atteindre chaque communauté, les équipes se sont déplacées à moto. Cela s’est avéré parfois difficile en raison des conditions météorologiques et des menaces à la sécurité. Une enquête non technique a été menée dans 400 villages, ce qui a permis à notre client d’identifier des zones dangereuses jusqu’alors inconnues. Les équipes multitâches de TDI basées simultanément en République démocratique du Congo ont ensuite été chargées de retirer et de détruire ces engins non explosés nouvellement identifiés.

It is very impressive to see how much you and the team have managed to achieve in extremely
challenging circumstances. The project is really building momentum.
In May 2020, armoured vehicles of the Force had been silted up for several days so a recovery
truck was needed. TDI personnel were escorted to the site and did an outstanding and effective
job of assisting the vehicles. I would like to personally thank all those involved for their
professionalism and their reactivity.
